Product Description
Did you know that 30% of what we throw out is compostable? Composting is the key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and replenishing our soils, reducing warming effects on the climate. BioBag is a world leader in providing bags and films for the collection of organic waste for the purpose of composting. BioBags aren't meant to last forever but are durable and strong enough for the conventional collection of food waste and other compostable items. Unlike regular plastic, BioBags are made from a resin derived from plant starches, vegetable oils & other polymers that can be consumed by micro-organisms that live in our soils. Our sandwich bags are 100% compostable and perfect for packing lunches, snacks, or for any activity on the go. Using products from BioBag means that you are taking small steps to make a big change for the environment. BioBag is the leading supplier of compostable bags across the globe however, BioBag isn’t a large PE plastic bag company that now conveniently dabbles in the new world of compostable bags. We are a small company of dedicated employees, who are fully committed to ONLY producing Certified compostable bags and films. It’s All We Do! This product complies with California Law (SB 1972) and other state and local laws regarding compostable labeled products. BioBags are Biodegradable Products Institute certified to meet the ASTM D6400 specification. Biodegradable Products Institute Certification #891053. The ASTM D6400 is the North American equivalent of the European EN 13432. Both specifications require that compostable products completely decompose in a composting setting in a specific time frame, leaving no harmful residues behind. The secure resealable zipper is certified compostable as well. Non-Toxic, BPA Free, Phthalates Free.

Thank You 😊
If you are considering this product, then you (like myself) probably hate the waste associated with plastic. But there are some cases when a bag is the most useful container...this product provides the convenience of a ziplock bag without the guilt of creating more plastic waste.
Just like any other task, food storage is a matter of finding the right tool for every job. So while these bags might not be useful for all foods, they are certainly a useful tool to have in your food storage toolbox.
For anyone who is interested, I thought I would share another option for non-plastic food storage (and its free): glass jars (I'm sure many of you already do this, but I didn't realize all the uses for glass jars until I started looking at some sustainable living blogs, so I thought I would share the tip to anyone who finds it useful). Next time you rinse out a jar of pickles, spaghetti sauce, grape jelly etc., instead of throwing it in the recycling bin, hang on to it. Jars are surprisingly handy, they come in shapes and sizes and have an endless number of uses. Here are some things you can store: refrigerated foods (left over soup/sauces), dry/non-perishable items (I use glass jars to store flour, sugar, coffee, tea, dry beans, pasta etc.), office supplies (staples, paper clips, rubber bands), toiletries (cotton balls, Q-tips), small jars are great for organizing a workbench (nails, screws, bolts, washers), I've also seen them used as cute drinking glasses for tea/lemonade.
I don't know why but I really love taking things meant for the bin and giving them new uses.
In the past year, though, Biobag has shipped them tightly sealed. Thanks for showing how well they seal, but I've already bought them. Opening one to insert a sandwich requires a concerted effort, and about 1 bag in 10 rips in the process, especially if you're in a hurry. If I find a brand of biodegradable sandwich bag that isn't a challenge to use, I'll probably switch.
